The archives of The Honourable Society of Lincoln's Inn include the longest-running formal records of any of the four Inns of Court. Minutes from meetings of the Inn’s Council and governing bodies have been meticulously recorded in what is known as the ‘Black Books’, with the earliest volume dating from 1422, making the Inn officially 600 years old.

As you can imagine, the Inn has changed quite a bit over the years but luckily did not lose any buildings in the two world wars. And today is an eleven-acre estate offering a beautiful array of historic halls and contemporary meeting facilities. Including the extraordinary Great Hall which is described as one of the most impressive surviving buildings of its kind in London.
As we reflect on the history of the Inn, we remember the many influential people that have visited over the years. Did you know that members of the Inn include 2 saints, 17 Prime Ministers, and members of the royal family?
As we approach the King's Coronation, we remember many Royal Visits they have had throughout the years. Queen Victoria opened the Great Hall in 1845 and in celebration of the 100th anniversary, Queen Mary planted a walnut tree on the North Lawn in 1945 more recently Queen Elizabeth II opened the new education centre, the Ashworth Centre and re-opened the Great Hall which was first opened by her Great-Great Grandmother Queen Victoria over 170 years ago.
With spaces dating back to the 1400s, our historic halls and traditional rooms make a memorable backdrop. With 16 unique and flexible event spaces, you’re sure to find the perfect space to suit your requirements, whatever the occasion.
